By the end of the year, the government hopes to have one-day business processing.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said that the government hopes to complete end-to-end processing of company applications in one day before the year closes.
According to Lopez, who spoke at the Laging Handa public briefing on Thursday, the move is in response to President Rodrigo Duterte’s demand in his previous State of the Nation Address (SONA) to stop the practice of people waiting in government offices to partake of public services.
Lopez urged company owners to submit their business applications via the Central Business Portal (CBP), which simplifies the process of obtaining permits and licenses.
Among the applications available on the CBP, which was established earlier this year, are those for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), the Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, and at least 18 local government units.
The internet platform is still in the early stages of development.
Lopez said that the CBP had reduced the processing time to three to five days. It was shortened from its previous duration of 33 days.
We want to achieve one-day processing by the end of the year, according to the DTI’s top executive.
Lopez believes that as a result of the ease of conducting business, more Filipinos would participate in activities that provide a living.
On Thursday, Lopez stated that automating government services is an efficient method to reduce lines in government offices. Lopez was speaking at the Kapihan sa ARTA (Anti-Red Tape Authority) meeting.
โWe have all seen firsthand how the epidemic has wreaked havoc on our personal lives, the economy, and our healthcare systems. That is why we must contribute to the revitalization of the Philippine economy in order to create employment and alleviate poverty. We think that government agencies and local government units can contribute to the revival of economic activity by providing more efficient services, particularly via automation,โ he said.
