The Department of Tourism (DOT) said Thursday, October 14, that staycations are now permitted in certified Metro Manila hotels as the area eases to Alert Level 3 from October 16 through the end of the month.

“Check-in for a staycation is open to people of all ages. To guarantee the safety of all visitors, only those aged 18 and above who have been properly vaccinated will be permitted to book their stay “The Department of Transportation said.

A negative RT-PCR test result is needed for unvaccinated visitors, according to the DOT.

Only DOT-accredited staycation hotels with government-issued safety seal certification will be permitted to welcome staycation visitors under the new rules.

The following hotels are included in the DOT’s revised list:

Hotels that welcome staycation visitors are permitted to operate at full capacity, according to the government.

“Because the Christmas season is rapidly coming, this is also extremely opportune.” Because family reunions are a cornerstone of Filipino culture, this is a popular time for leisure travel and reservations, according to Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.

Meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE); social events such as weddings, parties, and family reunions; and tourist attractions such as museums, parks plazas, public gardens, and other scenic viewpoints are also permitted under Alert Level 3, with a maximum indoor capacity of 30% for fully vaccinated individuals only, and a maximum outdoor venue capacity of 50% for individuals regardless of vaccination status.

Since Metro Manila has achieved a vaccination rate of 70% for elderly people and those with comorbidities, Romulo-Puyat stated that businesses authorized to operate in this region may grow by 20% and 10%, respectively, provided they have been given a safety seal.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases demands that these businesses’ employees be completely vaccinated against Covid-19 and that the local government unit where these operations will take place has no objections.

The return of staycations and the increase of restaurant capacity, according to Romulo-Puyat, would provide a “significant boost” to the industry and will result in the restoration of employment for displaced tourist workers.

“We applaud the relaxation of limitations in light of the present alert level. “The return of tourist-related operations in certain regions will not only help hotels and businesses progressively generate income, but it will also result in the restoration of employment for our displaced tourism employees, particularly as the holiday season approaches,” Romulo-Puyat added.
