MANILA, Philippines – There is no test to detect protracted coronavirus illness (Covid), a syndrome in which Covid-19 symptoms last months after initial infection.

Long Covid symptoms, such as coughing, chest pain, difficulty breathing, joint pain, and others, can continue up to two months or longer, according to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire in a virtual news briefing on Tuesday.

Long Covid is not contagious, but individuals who have it should see a doctor, especially if they have trouble breathing, severe chest discomfort, or pass out, according to Vergeire.

Because long Covid is acquired after a coronavirus exposure, getting immunized is one of the greatest strategies to prevent this sort of sickness, according to Vergeire.
