UN applauds first grain ship leaving Ukraine.
The first ship transporting grain under the historic agreement agreed by Ukraine, Russia, and Turkey and overseen by the UN sailed out of the Ukrainian port of Odesa on Monday, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres applauded the move.
The M/V Razoni is the first cargo ship to depart a Ukrainian Black Sea port since February 26th, carrying a load of 26,527 tons of grain.
It is headed for Tripoli, a port city in the Mediterranean.
Guterres expressed optimism that “this will be the first of many commercial ships going in accordance with the Initiative agreed and that this will offer much-needed stability and relief to global food security, especially in the most fragile humanitarian circumstances” in a statement.
