Sorsogon provides P2.1 million in assistance to farmers affected by the ASF
The Sorsogon province government has allocated over PHP 2.1 million as financial aid to hog farmers impacted by the ASF infestation.
Salvador Mendoza, the Sorsogon information officer, stated in a report on Thursday that 33 local hog farmers in the municipality of Irosin were affected and received financial assistance on Wednesday.
According to Mendoza, “the hog raisers from the two impacted barangays received PHP5,000 financial assistance for each head of culled hogs.”
In the villages of Bolos and Bulawan, there have been 423 hog deaths as a result of ASF, he noted.
According to a statement from Sorsogon Governor Jose Edwin B. Hamor, the money handed to the afflicted hog farmers will aid in their recovery from the impacts of the ASF infection.
