As part of AF Payments, Inc.’s (AFPI) initiatives to alleviate the lack of cards in various train, bus, and modern jeepney stations in the National Capital Region, beep cards can now be purchased from a number of online retailers (NCR).

The company that manages Beep stored value cards, AFPI, announced on Monday that it had opened official stores on Facebook Marketplace, Shopee, and Lazada.

“By opening up these digital sales channels, AFPI not only makes it easier for commuters to obtain their own Beep card, but also provides them the confidence that they won’t be taken advantage of while making online purchases,” the statement read.

Priced at PHP188 excluding shipping costs, it claimed that cards purchased online are more expensive than those purchased on the Light Rail Transit Lines 1 (LRT-1), 2 (LRT-2), and 3 (MRT-3), which are all subsidized by AFPI and Philippine government as part of a concession agreement signed in 2016.

According to the statement, “like all other products sold through various e-commerce platforms, Beep cards may also be purchased using discount vouchers as appropriate, and offers are valid only while stocks last.”

It urged cardholders to register their cards, check their balances, keep track of transactions, earn rewards, and redeem points using the Beep smartphone app.

Beep cards can also be topped up online through e-wallet and digital banking services as GCash, Maya, BPI, Share Treats, ShopeePay, Venio, Chinabank, LandbankPay, and JustPay.to, Gateway Mobile, Posible, and Payloro. Some smartphones can use near-field communications (NFC) to read the cards.
