Ilocos Norte launches a holiday caravan
Ilocos Norte’s provincial administration went to Nueva Era, Banna, Marcos, and Dingras on Wednesday to distribute “noche buena” (Christmas eve) food packs and cash gifts to underprivileged families and frontline workers.
The gift-package distribution was a part of a week-long local government program to provide families in the province who are not enrolled in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and who do not regularly receive aid from the federal government.
For the pre-identified individuals in the province, more than 1,000 noche buena packets were created, according to provincial social welfare and development officer Lilian Rin. Frontline village employees also received monetary gifts totaling PHP1,500 each.
In addition to receiving their honoraria of PHP9,000 each, at least 25 Barangay Ranger Officers received medicines, mugs, and various agricultural inputs.
During the Christmas caravan, Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc gave a brief address in which he acknowledged that 2022 will be difficult for the province but expressed confidence that 2023 will be “brighter and better for Ilocos Norte.”
The governor encouraged locals to submit all of their demands for assistance and told them that the province administration will try its best to address them with aid from the federal government as several department representatives were also present in the caravan.
“Just let us know what you need, and we’ll try to assist. Everyone is welcome to visit my office, he declared.
The province administration is continuing its custom of sending gifts to less fortunate families during the Yuletide season, which falls with the governor’s birth month, to make sure they have food on the table during the holidays.
“Thank you, Governor, for making everyone in Marcos happy. Cyn Ablog, a native of Marcos town, stated on Wednesday, “God bless you and the team.
