DOH records 15 new cases involving fireworks.
As of Dec. 21 through Dec. 26, there had been 20 recorded fireworks-related injuries, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The Central Visayas and Soccskargen regions logged the most cases, with three injuries each, the agency noted in its most recent case bulletin.
Following them with two cases each were the Ilocos, Bicol, Western Visayas, Davao, and National Capital Regions.
There was one case each in Central Luzon, Region 4-A (Calabarzon), Region 4-B (Mimaropa), and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
The five-year average for the same period (28 cases) was 29 percent lower than these (20 cases), according to the DOH.
Seventy percent of the injuries—14—occurred at home.
11 people, or 55%, suffered eye injuries, while 2 people, or 10%, had blast burn injuries that required amputation.
There were no incidents of stray bullet injuries or consumption of fireworks reported.
There were no known fatalities from fireworks.
