Deadly More than 1 million people lose power due to a US winter storm.
Over a million people lost power Friday as an Arctic winter storm grew stronger across the US.
Winter weather advisories and warnings are in effect for a major portion of the US and Canada.
The majority of the eastern two-thirds of the country will continue to see severe wind chill values and Arctic air through the Christmas holiday weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
According to media accounts, numerous people have reportedly died in weather-related crashes as a result of freezing temperatures.
Prior to the holiday, thousands of flights have already been canceled, making travel misery for millions.
As some states anticipate traffic restrictions, US President Joe Biden urged citizens to heed the advice of local authorities and remain off the roads.
