The Nazareno 2023, also known as the Feast of the Black Nazarene, organizers claimed that followers of the yearly religious celebration are prepared for the changes in how it would be observed.

“Ready for the new things; things are going well so far. This is a transitional moment, as I indicated. We are reintroducing pre-pandemic traditions while also including post-pandemic behaviors. Fr. Earl Valdez, an affiliated priest of the Quiapo Church, spoke with reporters outside of Tuesday’s press conference for preparations for the feast day. “So far, people have been going, and the desire to have a celebration is increasingly visible,” he said.

Even though some customary activities are still restricted, according to Valdez, many people still participate in the celebration.

In addition, he added, it was not just concentrated in Quiapo Church but also in other areas of the nation.

In the meantime, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna urged followers to dress in masks, especially if they plan to participate in feast-day events like the Walk of Faith.

We’re urging people to wear masks, especially in busy places, to keep their distance from one another, and to always disinfect with alcohol, she said.

After 12 a.m. Mass on January 8, there is a parade from the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta Park to Quiapo Church via Quezon Blvd.

The organizers anticipate that the parade will end after three hours.

Due to the 2019 coronavirus disease concern, the Quiapo Church has decided not to hold the customary Traslacion or the procession of the Black Nazarene image from Luneta to Quiapo Church.

The most recent procession, which lasted 16 hours, took place in January 2020.
