DND is in good hands with Galvez as its new leader.

With Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. in charge, the Department of National Defense (DND) is in capable hands, a senior official stated on Tuesday.

“Although Secretary Galvez’s appointment was generally positively received, there was some anxiety during the process because of his lack of experience with management styles. Because of his experience at Saka, the majority of us are confident that the DND will be in excellent hands. (With the arrival of the Secretary, many people are eager, while others are nervous because they are unsure of his management style. However, overall, his appointment was well received. Because of his experience and knowledge, the majority of us are aware that the DND would be in good hands “Press was informed by DND spokeswoman Arsenio Andolong.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. accepted the resignation of the department’s officer-in-charge Undersecretary Jose Faustino Jr. on Monday and designated Galvez as the new defense head in his place.

When questioned about Faustino’s claim that he decided to leave his position after learning about Gen. Andres Centino’s nomination as the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) head, succeeding Lt. Gen. Bartolome Vicente Bacarro on January 6, he declined to comment.

Meanwhile, Andolong acknowledged that some DND employees had already submitted their polite resignations, but added that this was only natural given the shift in leadership.

He responded, “I believe there are approximately seven or nine of them,” when asked how many officials had submitted their courteous resignation.

When asked about DND’s morale in light of the company’s new leadership, Andolong reaffirmed that DND is a professional group.

He claimed that regardless of who leads the organization, the staff will maintain a professional demeanor.

Galvez, a 1985 graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), led the AFP from April to December of last year.

In October 2017, while serving as the Western Mindanao Command commander, Galvez oversaw the military operation to free the city of Marawi from the control of the Maute-ISIS terrorist organization.

Galvez led the Office of the Presidential Adviser for Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity before being named director of the DND.

He also served as the leader of the National Task Force on Covid-19, which was mostly in charge of procuring vaccinations and immunizing a sizable portion of the populace against the dreaded illness.
