According to data released on Thursday by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), more than 10% of the nation’s currently active mobile customers have finished registering their subscriber identity module (SIM).

10.47 percent, or 17,698,340, of the 169 million mobile customers, according to a statement from DICT Spokesperson Undersecretary Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo, have finished the SIM registration process to date.

The three private telecommunications companies (PTEs) in the nation—Smart Communications Inc. (Smart), Globe Telecom Inc. (Globe), and Dito Telecommunity Corp.—were cited as the sources of the statistics, which were obtained from the National Telecommunications Commission (Dito).

“Of Smart Communications Inc.’s 67,995,734 subscribers, there were 8,367,752 registered SIMs or 12.31 percent of the total. 8,84% of Globe Telecom Inc.’s 87,873,936 subscribers, or 7,764,786 SIMs, were registered. A total of 1,565,802 SIMs were registered, or 11.95 percent of DITO Telecommunity Corp.’s 13,108,103 subscribers, Lamentillo said.

To prevent deactivation after the SIM registration period expires on April 26, she urged the public to have their SIM registered and to avoid registering at the last minute.

In order to complete all registration within the allotted time, she added, “We are also working on the deployment of SIM registration for geographically isolated and disadvantaged regions (GIDAs).”

By going to https://simreg.smart.com.ph/ for Smart users, new.globe.com.ph/simreg for Globe users, and https://digital.dito.ph/pto/download/app for Dito users, mobile users can register their SIMs online.

Through its hotline 1326, they can also contact the DICT with inquiries about SIM registration or any other IT-related issues.
