The Department of Health (DOH) revealed on Tuesday that the country’s daily average of new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases climbed by 8% from March 5 to 12.

In the latest DOH case bulletin, average new daily infections jumped to 140 in the recent week from 130 recorded from Feb. 27 to Mar. 5.

Additionally, for the most recent week, the DOH reported 983 new cases and 58 verified deaths.

Around 4.08 million coronavirus illnesses and more than 66,217 fatalities have been reported in the nation thus far.

The number of severe and critical infections decreased from 395 the previous week to 351 the next week.

Only 265 of the 1,982 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are being used, or 13.4 percent, whereas 2,916 of the 17,075 non-ICU beds are being used, or 17.1 percent.

As of March 12, at least 78,438,601 or 100,4 percent of the target population for the nation (78,100,578) has received the Covid-19 vaccination, including 82.16 percent of the 8,721,357 seniors.

Of of the population who has received all of the recommended vaccinations, 23,801,071 people have received booster doses.
