During the next Holy Week, the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office (PPPO) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will establish a total of 52 driver-help centers in the province.

Capt. Renan Dela Cruz, PPPO information officer, stated at a virtual forum held by the Philippine Information Agency – Pangasinan on Tuesday that a total of 456 employees, including those who will staff 48 help centers, would be deployed throughout the holiday.

According to him, the support centers would offer directions or emergency assistance to drivers and visitors as well as increase police visibility, which discourages crime.

In places of convergence, such as tourist hotspots, there will be maximal deployment and continuous mobile patrolling. Since this is the first Holy Week without limitations, we anticipate a surge in visitors, he said.

In addition to the police officers, force multipliers will also be present, Dela Cruz said.

Approximately 592 force multipliers have signed up, and more are expected, he said.

He stated that the police would be helped by the force multipliers to maintain law and order over the holidays.

“All we’re asking of the public is that they always lock their doors and safeguard their possessions whenever they leave the house. Additionally, to make certain their vehicles are prepared for the long journeys,” Dela Cruz said.

The DPWH-Pangasinan’s district information officer, Bernard Caronongan, announced that the organization would establish four driver-help centers in key sites across the province.

We also have mechanics on hand to assist drivers with any car issues or to provide directions if necessary, he continued.

According to him, the DPWH will open help centers in San Jacinto town, the intersection of Dagupan City and San Fabian town, Bugallon town, and San Carlos City and Binmaley town.

This year’s Holy Week is scheduled for April 2 to April 10.
