Senator Sonny Angara thinks the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Shared Service Facilities (SSFs) project has made a significant contribution to the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) since it began, and as such, it should be expanded and institutionalised to help even more entrepreneurs.

According to a statement released by Angara on Friday, the DTI created the SSFs to give MSMEs across the nation access to the tools, equipment, and machinery they require as part of a common system to increase productivity and foster innovation.

In the ten years since the DTI implemented the SSFs project, many people have benefited and it has made a significant contribution to the welfare of society. This is evident in the thousands of small enterprises that have increased their revenue and output thanks to SSFs, according to Angara.

Angara spoke in support of Senate Bill No. (SBN) 761, which seeks to institutionalise the DTI’s SSFs program, before the Senate adjourned its regular session on Wednesday. He cited the many success stories that have been documented since the programme was originally introduced in 2013.

According to him, the General Appropriations Act has allotted PHP4.3 billion in total over the last ten years for the DTI’s SSF programme.

According to the most recent DTI data, 3,484 SSFs have been built nationwide, benefiting 580,000 people and generating more than 317,000 new jobs.

“Marami sa kaibigan natin, taglay ang galing, talino, diskarte, pagkamalikhain at lakas ng loob para magtayo ng sarili nilang negosyo, kumita ng malaki, at umasenso sa buhay,” said the speaker. The issue is that there are no materials, tools, or resources available for producing goods or services that could be exported to other countries or marked for sale. It is the goal of the SSFs of the DTI. Many of our people have the know-how, foresight, imagination, and bravery to launch their own businesses, make good money, and better their lives. The issue is that they occasionally lack the tools, resources, and infrastructure necessary to produce goods or render services that they can profit from, market locally or export internationally. SSFs of DTI try to remedy this, according to Angara.

SBN 761 amends Section 15 of Republic Act No. 6977, also known as the Magna Carta for MSMEs, to include the institutionalisation of the DTI’s SSFs programme and the creation of additional SSF-Fabrication Labs (SSF-Fab Labs), which will house cutting-edge technologies like computer-aided machines, 3D printers, laser cutters, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling machines, CNC routers, and computers for MSMEs to use in

Entrepreneurs can test new goods and ideas and develop them until they are ready for the market using the SSF Fab Labs.

MSMEs, including those that produce food goods, are able to improve their packaging and labelling through the SSFs, making their products more appealing to consumers.

Additionally, they are able to increase production rates, enabling them to deliver orders on schedule.
