In the first quarter of ’23, 43K elderly people in Caraga receive assistance.
43,273 elderly destitute people received their social pensions from the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) in the first three months of this year.
The beneficiaries are a part of the organization’s Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program, according to a statement released on Monday. (SocPen).
The DSWD-13 stated that the agency “vows to continue to carry out its services to the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged,” adding that the SocPen program’s payout would continue until the first semester of this year.
According to the agency, women make up 58.3% of the 184,700 projected beneficiaries for the program in the region this year.
The SocPen, which provides 500 PHP a month in cash aid to elderly people in need, is regarded as an extra government program.
The support attempts to supplement the daily income of elderly people who are in need, particularly for their medical requirements.
