The unified system for government transactions is approved by the PBBM.
To increase bureaucratic effectiveness and make doing business in the Philippines easier, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has approved the development of a unified operating system for all government transactions.
During the multi-sectoral meeting on Tuesday with various government departments at Malacaan Palace, Marcos gave his consent.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) are currently mapping the operations of many agencies in order to compile them into a single system in response to the President’s direction.
For a more unified structure, according to Marcos, the system must also take into account and handle the discrepancies between the national bureaucracy and numerous local government units (LGUs).
“We continue to work with those things. The issues we were attempting to bring down to that level involve the local governments quite a bit. You’ve seen what can take place. We need to handle it, said Marcos.
All government agencies have participated in stakeholder discussions to examine their procedures and need in an effort to persuade them to submit applications using a single form and connect them to the network that creates a “one-stop shop.”
Marcos also instructed the DICT and ARTA to encourage local government units (LGUs) around the country to use and embrace the Business Permits and Licensing Systems (BPLS).
In the meanwhile, those in attendance at the conference suggested that a data-sharing mechanism be implemented so that documents submitted to one agency wouldn’t need to be sent to another agency anymore.
Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry Alfredo Pascual, Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Benjamin Abalos Jr., Undersecretary of Information and Communications Technology David Almirol Jr., Director General of ARTA Ernesto Perez, and Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio were among those who met with the President.
