The Bureau of Immigration welcomes compliments on the installation of the eTravel system.

Passengers on both inbound and outbound flights have provided the Bureau of Immigration (BI) with favorable feedback regarding the complete deployment of the eTravel platform, which requires passengers to register online 72 hours before their flights.

The introduction of the initiative, which went into effect on Saturday, has so far received positive feedback from both departing and arriving passengers, claims BI spokesman Dana Sandoval.

“The system is getting excellent reviews. At the Laging Handa briefing, she added, “It’s actually very comparable to the systems that are being adopted in many nations around the world.

“This will be convenient for frequent travelers since they no longer need to write on a sheet of paper but instead they just go online and sign the form, three days before their scheduled flights,” the BI official furthered.

She also revealed that during the system’s initial rollout on Saturday, over 32,000 foreign visitors and Filipino passengers had registered. 14,000 Filipinos who were leaving also visited the website.

The installation of the eTravel system has been coordinated with other stakeholders, including airline firms, according to Sandoval.

She stated, “We have requested that our partners, the airline companies, assist travelers who may require assistance with the new system.

The BI representative, on the other hand, stated that they are prepared to shut down websites that are duplicating the eTravel platform.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is prepared to take down scamming websites as part of an interagency operation, she continued.

The BI is prepared to accept paper-based registration from those who are unable to use the online registration system in the interim.

“We will still accept paper-based registration from Senior citizens, or basically those who have difficulty filling out the online forms, or if the system is down,” Sandoval stated.

For the aim of building integrated border control, health surveillance, and economic data analysis, the system consists of a single data-gathering platform for arriving and exiting travelers.

It is a project being worked on in conjunction with the DICT, the Department of Tourism, the Bureau of Quarantine, the Bureau of Customs, the Department of Health, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Justice, and the National Privacy Commission by a sub-technical working group of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) under the direction of the BI.
