The government has given households affected by the Mayon Volcano’s ongoing unrest assistance totaling about PHP101.1 million.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) stated in its most recent bulletin that this figure is greater than the PHP85.6 million announced on June 23.

Distilled water, drums, family food kits, tents, financial and fuel help, animal feeds, hygiene kits, backpack sprayers, laminating sacks, modular tents, malongs, netts, rice, sleeping kits, and tarpaulins are all included in the quantity of aid.

Approximately 10,642 families, or 41,482 people, have been impacted by the turmoil on Mayon thus far.

Of this total, 4,08 households or 1,428 people are being helped outside, while 5,354 families or 18,706 people receive assistance in 28 evacuation centers.

Diego Mariano, the director of the Office of Civil Defense’s joint information center, said displaced families and those who didn’t need to be removed from their homes make up the affected families.

He gave the example of families whose way of life was impacted but did not require evacuation.
