🏘️ PBBM Pledges to Tackle PH Housing Backlog 🏠

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally inspected a housing project in San Fernando, Pampanga, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to addressing the housing backlog in the Philippines.

During the visit to the Crystal Peak States project, Marcos announced the government’s goal of constructing one million houses per year until the end of his term. He commended the simultaneous launch of government housing projects in the province as part of the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program, a key priority of his administration.

The 4PH program aims to build homes near essential facilities to improve the quality of life for Filipino families. Marcos expressed optimism that many families would benefit from these comfortable and affordable houses.

To achieve the housing target, the national government is collaborating with local government units (LGUs) nationwide. Marcos extended his gratitude to the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), the San Fernando City government, and the Social Housing Finance Corp. (SFHC) for spearheading the housing projects.

The Crystal Peak States project in Barangay Del Carmen covers a 9.8-hectare area and comprises 30 multistory buildings with a total capacity of over 8,300 units. The project caters to both public and private sector residents, including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), police, and military personnel. It offers a mix of 25- and 28-square-meter units, along with shophouses, commercial areas, clubhouses, basketball courts, and swimming pools.

The President was also presented with the Minalin and Candaba housing projects under the 4PH program, which are expected to benefit over 10,000 individuals from various sectors. St. Andrews Residences in Candaba will consist of 18 mid-rise buildings with approximately 5,000 units, while the Minalin Housing Project will feature 24 low and mid-rise buildings with a total of 5,016 units.

These three projects aim to significantly reduce Pampanga’s housing demand, estimated at 91,000 units according to officials. The DHSUD is at the forefront of implementing the Pambansang Pabahay program, which seeks to address the country’s 6.5 million housing backlog. Over 150 memoranda of understanding (MOU) have been signed under the program, spanning 28 locations nationwide.
