The province of Ilocos Norte has partnered with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to establish an integrated approach to e-governance.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) members unanimously approved Provincial Resolution No. 2023-07-165 on Monday, granting Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc, the authority to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with DICT, represented by Secretary Ivan John E. Uy or any authorized officer, to align, coordinate, and integrate information and communication technology applications and systems in the province, streamlining government transactions.

“With the harmonization of our digital government systems, we can serve more people efficiently and expedite processes,” emphasized Provincial Board Member Elmer Faylogna, who sponsored the resolution.

Faylogna, as the chair of the transportation and communication committee, emphasized the necessity of digitally transforming government processes to keep pace with the advancements of the computer age.

The DICT has already initiated several flagship programs, including the development, implementation, and integration of E-Local Government Units (ELGU), E-Government Applications (EGovApp), EGovpay, E-Travel, and E-Cloud, among others.

The agreement underscores the commitment of both parties to pursue digital transformation and e-governance initiatives.

Earlier last month, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. launched the eGov PH Super App to streamline processes and combat corruption.

The first e-governance app is available for download on Google Play and the Apple Store.

Through this app, Filipinos can access various government services, such as digital identification, essential government services, e-tourism, e-travel services, e-payments, banking services, and news and information on various subjects.
