The Department of Health (DOH) reiterated on Friday that all Covid-19 rules and regulations were implemented with the public’s best interests in mind. This statement comes in response to the recent Supreme Court decision to dismiss petitions challenging the constitutionality of policies implemented by the DOH as the overseer of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Diseases (IATF).

In a press statement, the DOH emphasized the importance of vaccination and booster doses as the primary defense against Covid-19. It highlighted that scientific evidence unequivocally supports the effectiveness of vaccines in conjunction with the implementation of multiple layers of protection.

The DOH stated, “By building a resilient barrier of immunity, we have substantially strengthened our collective ability to overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic, leading us towards a successful transition to a post-pandemic era.”

The DOH expressed deep appreciation for the Supreme Court’s favorable ruling and announced that it will promptly issue a comprehensive statement once it officially receives and reviews the decision.
