LGUs Embrace Automation with eLGU and eReport Mobile Apps
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos announced on Tuesday the launch of two game-changing mobile applications – the Electronic Local Government Unit (eLGU) System and the People’s Feedback Mechanism (eReport). These apps signify a paradigm shift towards a more efficient, transparent, and citizen-centered governance system under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration.
The eLGU app is a significant step closer to realizing the vision of digitalization in local governments. At the same time, the eReport will serve as an essential platform for people to report criminal activities, fire incidents, and emergencies in real-time.
The eLGU covers many local government services, including business permit licensing, notice of violations, notification system, community tax, health certificates, local civil registry, business tax, and real property tax.
On the other hand, the eReport is seamlessly linked with the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) iReport and the Bureau of Fire Protection’s (BFP) Fire Response Management System. This allows citizens to voice their concerns and reports directly through mobile devices.
“In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s priority on enhancing government processes to boost economic competitiveness, the eLGU and eReport System represent crucial steps in realizing the strategies laid out in the Philippine Development Plan,” stated Abalos.
He added, “By harnessing the power of new technologies, we are opening doors to boundless possibilities, promoting transparency, and engaging our communities towards more opportunities and progress.”
The DILG chief revealed that local government units (LGUs) are swiftly moving towards automation, with impressive statistics: 95 percent have established their Business One Stop Shops (BOSS), 86 percent are compliant with national business processes and licensing guidelines, 58 percent have fully implemented the automation of the Business Permits and Licensing System (BPLS), almost 37 percent offer online applications, and 12 percent accept online payments.
President Marcos led the recent launch of the eLGU System and eReport, alongside officials from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and DILG. These applications are vital components of the eGov PH Super App, an integrated mobile platform offering multi-sectoral government services in a one-stop-shop format.
During the launch at Malacañang Palace in Manila, President Marcos emphasized how these programs signify a transformative shift in government-citizen interactions. Utilizing the power of technology, they can break barriers and bridge gaps like never before.
The event was also graced by PNP Chief Gen. Benjamin C. Acorda Jr., BFP Director for Fire Safety and Enforcement Chief Superintendent Manuel G. Golino, and officials from DILG, BFP, PNP, DICT, and the Anti-Red Tape Authority.
