The increased number of infected medical front-line workers and healthcare workers (HCWs) in Manila is causing delays in the vaccination program and the publication of RT-PCR test results.

Several doctors, nurses, and laboratory employees have been found to be sick and reinfected with the coronavirus disease 2019, according to Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso during a live Facebook broadcast on Monday night (Covid-19).

To ensure continuity of services in the six district hospitals, doctors and nurses stationed at immunization sites were instructed to return to their mother units and facilities.

He called for patience as the vaccination program slowed, but promised the public that inoculation and free swab tests would continue despite the lower number of HCWs.

14 members of the Sta. Ana Hospital molecular laboratory is among the sick.

After documenting 688 new infections, the city now has 2,290 active Covid-19 cases as of Tuesday.

There were 163 additional recoveries, bringing the total to 92,162, while deaths remained at 1,785 with no new fatalities.

People with symptoms such as cough, flu, itchy and scratchy throat, and fever should have swab testing, according to Domagoso.

“Huwag na kayong magdalawang-isip na kayong magdalawang-isip na kayong magdalawang- May nararamdaman ay magpa-test kapag kayo’y. (Do not hesitate.) Habang naghihintay ng test result ay mag-isolate Have self-discipline if you feel something, have yourself tested, and separate yourself while you wait for the results,” he advised.
