For two weeks, Quiapo Church was closed.
Beginning Thursday, the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, also known as Quiapo Church, will be shuttered for two weeks to assist the government in averting the Covid-19 rise.
“As part of our efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19, the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, Parish of St. John the Baptist (Quiapo Church), and all of its offices will be temporarily closed today, January 13 until January 26, 2022,” Msgr. Hernando Coronel, the rector of the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
“As a result, organizational work and other church-related public-facing activities have been discontinued,” he added.
“However, our daily online masses and devotions will continue to be streamed live on our social media pages and accounts,” he stated.
Coronel said they will clean the church and their offices during the two-week closure.
