In 2021, more than 90% of inspected facilities in Metro Manila maintained minimal public health regulations, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
According to the Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB), 4,925 out of 5,267 inspected businesses adhered to minimal health criteria to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease in 2019. (Covid-19).
Enterprises that did not comply with the execution of public health requirements have already received requests for corrective action (RCA) from the agency.
“However, 292 businesses failed to respond to the RCA within the specified time frame, and were sent to local government units (LGUs) for further action and inquiry.” When compliance is found unsatisfactory within the required time, the remaining 50 enterprises will be subjected to endorsement by their respective LGUs,” the DTI said.
The most common violations of the minimum health standards are the lack of necessary contact tracing or health declaration forms, thermal scanners, floor markings, and regular service maintenance schedules for air conditioning equipment, according to the report.
Undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Consumer Protection Group, Ruth Castelo, has reminded businesses to adhere to the health standards set forth by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) to ensure the safe operation of businesses during the pandemic.
“Let us be proactive and adhere to our health protocols in 2022 to assure the utmost protection of the health of Filipino consumers, traders, and workers,” Castelo added.
She went on to say that the government will continue to undertake on-the-spot checks to ensure that businesses are adhering to minimum health standards.
