The government is considering expanding ‘Resbakuna sa Botika’ beyond the National Capital Region.

As the country prepares to begin a pilot test of the “Resbakuna sa Botika” on January 20, Presidential Adviser for Covid-19 Response Vivencio Dizon stated the government hopes to expand the immunization campaign beyond Metro Manila.

Dizon said the government plans to pilot test the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) immunization in pharmacies for one week before expanding the initiative to other parts of the country during the Laging Handa public briefing on Wednesday.

The Generics Pharmacy, Generika Drugstore, Healthway Clinic, Mercury Drug, Watsons, QualiMed, and Southstar Drug are among the main pharmacies in Metro Manila that will participate in the “Resbakuna sa Botika.”

“We will open four pharmacies in Metro Manila tomorrow, and three more on Friday, including two clinics.” We’ll elaborate on that in the following weeks. “Our goal is to bring vaccination closer to our countrymen so that we can be vaccinated even faster and more people can get immunized,” he explained in Filipino.

Only booster injections will be offered in the participating pharmacies in the “Resbakuna sa Botika,” according to Dizon.

Booster shots will be administered by pharmacists at partner drugstores, he added.

The National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF), according to Dizon, is only waiting for daily cases to settle down before launching another round of National Vaccination Days around the country.

Because the country has reached its goal of fully vaccinating 54 million people, the government has set a new goal of vaccinating 77 million Filipinos by the end of the first quarter.

“All we ask of Filipinos is that they go to the immunization centers,” he said, adding that “when we expand out to pharmacies in various parts of the Philippines, it would be even easier.”

Walk-ins are welcome.

Walk-in vaccinees are also permitted to receive booster doses, according to Dizon, as long as they complete onsite registration.

“Libre po ito; walang bayad ito, kagaya na rin ng mga bakunahan natin na mga LGU natin, kaya wala pong problema ang ating mga kababayan dito at mas mapapadali pa sana sa kanila,” he remarked.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Health (DOH), in collaboration with the participating pharmacy stores, will run an integrated system, according to Dizon.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the NTF’s primary implementer, had stated that the move will be expanded to other cities outside of the NCR and to other regions “depending on readiness and safety inspections.”

It will also alleviate the scarcity of vaccines, as the government aims to vaccinate at least 90 million people by mid-year.

According to the most recent data from the national Covid-19 vaccination dashboard, the Philippines has administered 120,645,514 doses of Covid-19 vaccine across the country, with 59,255,237 doses used as first shots, 56,027,759 doses used as second shots, and 5,362,518 doses used as booster shots or additional doses.
