The number of places under granular lockdown has dropped to 832, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

This is down from the 844 areas counted on Thursday.

With 240 places under granular lockdown, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) leads the way, followed by Cagayan Valley with 212 and the National Capital Region with 196. Ilocos Region has 165 members, while Mimaropa has 19.

From Friday to January 31, three provinces in the CAR — Kalinga, Ifugao, and Mountain Province — have been placed under the tighter Alert Level 4 status.

An escalation to Alert Level 4 indicates that a region’s healthcare use rate has above 70%, with frighteningly high two-week increase and average daily attack rates (ADAR).

The lockdowns are affecting 1,362 people at the moment.

To ensure security and adherence to basic health requirements, a total of 211 employees and 443 force multipliers were sent to the impacted locations.

Local government units (LGUs) apply the Alert Level System guidelines to determine whether to impose or lift a granular lockdown on a house, complex, street, or building based on the number of diseases reported.

Covid-19 quarantines “critical zones” in LGUs and imposes granular lockdowns on a micro-level area.

Meanwhile, with only 3,451 active cases, the police force continues to experience a drop in active infections.

Despite registering another 339 new illnesses on Friday, this is a tiny decrease from Thursday’s 3,482 infections.

Out of a total of 46,777 confirmed illnesses since the start of the epidemic, another 370 additional recoveries increased the total to 43,200.

The Covid-19 death toll for the police force now stands at 126.
