As of Saturday, 168,355 youngsters aged 5 to 11 years old had registered for the impending Covid-19 immunization.

For the February 4 and 5 pilot rollout, 32 immunization locations have been designated in Metro Manila, including the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, National Children’s Hospital, and Philippine Heart Center.

Four hospitals from Central Luzon and Calabarzon will also take part on February 7.

According to Philippine Statistics Authority figures, around 15.5 million youngsters can be immunized, according to Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje.

“We’ll do it in tranches,” she said in an online briefing, “depending on the vaccines that will arrive.”

To expedite the process, there will be no separate inoculation for children with comorbidities. Medical certificates are required for those with comorbidities.

The child’s birth certificate or other proof of filiation must be brought by the parents or guardians.

Children aged seven and up would be required to sign an assent form as well.

Cabotaje explained that the pediatric vaccination will provide “cocoon protection” for families, particularly those with children under the age of five who are not yet eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine.

In the first and second quarters, she said, 15 million doses of the lower-dose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine should arrive.

On the 3rd and 9th of February, 1.56 million doses would be delivered to Manila.

“After that, we expect weekly delivery.” Iyong mga amounts dine-determine pa natin pero at least for the next two quarters made-deliver iyong 15 million (We are still determining the quantity, but the 15 million doses will be delivered for the next two quarters),” she explained.
