Thousands of people waited for Vice Presidential Candidate Sara Duterte to arrive on Tuesday along the highway from Davao City to Bislig City.

The Mahalin Natin ang Pilipinas Ride (MNPR) began shortly after 6 a.m., and Duterte and her entourage arrived in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, after nine hours and 20 stops. Travel from Davao to Bislig usually takes roughly five hours.

Nita Oniola, 61, of Trento, Agusan del Sur, was one of those who waited for Duterte.

“Moboto jud ko niya, kay maayo siya, buotan siya,” says the narrator. “Mga pobre ang iyang huna-hunaon, dili ang kaugalingon,” Oniola remarked, waving a red and green flaglet in her right hand and holding Duterte’s poster in her left.

“Ang akong vice president si (Sara Duterte is my vice president,” she remarked.

Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, projected a landslide victory for Duterte and her presidential nominee Bongbong Marcos during MNPR’s send-off event.

Quiboloy also stated his support for the Uniteam and prayed for the safety of everyone who would be accompanying Sara on her ride. The send-off was placed at Quiboloy’s church compound in Buhangin, Davao City.

Senatorial candidates Jinggoy Estrada and Harry Roque, who were both riding their motorcycles with Sara, were present for the send-off.

The first stop was in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, where Duterte presided over the opening of the provincial offices of the Marcos-Sara Duterte Alliance (MASADA).

In a brief message, Duterte congratulated supporters of the BBM-Sara tandem and urged them to unite in their quest for national unity.

“Maraming salamat sa Uniteam suporta ninyo at lagi nating ikampanya ang panawagan natin lahat – ang pagkakaisa,” says the author. (Thank you very much for your support in Uniteam, and let us continue to campaign for the call of everyone – unity.) We will rise again as a team),” she stated.

Local supporters and provincial government representatives, including Davao de Oro Governor Tyron Uy, Vice Governor Maricar Zamora, First District Rep. Manuel ‘WayKurat’ Zamora, and other members of the provincial Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) slate, greeted Duterte warmly.

Duterte was joined by National Party Secretary-General Prospero Pichay and his wife, Cantilan Mayor Carla Pichay, for the launching of the LAKAS-CMD Provincial Headquarters in Bislig City.

Sara also met Gov. Alexander Pimentel of Surigao del Sur and Rep. Johnny Pimentel of Bislig City at a separate event.

Sara’s squad will fly to Surigao City on Wednesday morning from Bislig.

The MNPR caravan was conceived in response to the difficulties posed by the introduction of various travel and social gathering restrictions in the fight against the spread of Covid-19.

The three- to five-hour daily ride will include stops at tourist attractions, short meetings with local supporters, and the distribution of Philippine flags to remind Filipinos that meaningful change and long-term growth require unity.

The caravan will begin on the eastern side of Mindanao and go to Cagayan Valley before returning to Davao via the western route via Ilocos Norte.
