Despite 544 new infections on Friday, the number of active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the Philippines remained on the decline.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported in its daily Covid-19 update that the active case number had dropped to 14,977, down from 15,188 on Thursday.

The Department of Health (DOH) noted in its daily Covid-19 bulletin that the majority of active cases have mild symptoms (7,166), followed by moderate symptoms (3,801), severe symptoms (2,433), critical condition (889), and asymptomatic (688).

Fresh cases on Friday are also marginally lower than the 564 reported on Thursday.

Another 734 additional cases were found, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 2,769,914 out of 2,833,878 confirmed illnesses since the epidemic began.

Meanwhile, another 235 people died, bringing the total number of people killed to 48,987.

According to the most recent data on Covid-19 testing, 32,908 tests were given on Wednesday, with 1.8 percent of those testing positive for the condition.

The use of hospital beds and ventilators is still low across the country, with 3,600 intensive care units (ICU) at 27% occupancy, 19,600 isolation beds at 25% occupancy, 13,000 ward beds at 14% occupancy, and 15% of 3,100 ventilators in use.

In Metro Manila, 1,300 ICU beds are occupied at 28 percent, 4,700 isolation beds are occupied at 22 percent, 3,900 ward beds are occupied at 19 percent, and 17 percent of 1,000 ventilators are in use.
