The number of new infections remains below 300, while the number of people who have recovered has surpassed 2.77 million.
The Department of Health (DOH) reported 288 new instances of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Thursday, increasing the total number of active cases in the country to 9,251 and the total number of cases to 2,837,903.
The DOH also recorded 270 new recoveries in its most recent case bulletin, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,777,671.
There are 3,204 mild cases, 480 asymptomatic patients, 377 critical cases, 1,797 severe cases, and 3,393 moderate cases among the active cases.
“Of the 288 cases recorded today, 241 (or 84 percent) happened over the last 14 days, from December 10 to 13, 2021,” according to the DOH.
The National Capital Region, with 63 (26 percent), Western Visayas, with 38 (16 percent), and Calabarzon, with 27 (11 percent) of the country’s new cases, had the highest number of cases in the past two weeks, according to the report.
With 65 more deaths, the death toll has risen to 50,981.
“Due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya, two (3%) deaths occurred in December 2021; six (9%) deaths occurred in November 2021; 14 (22%) deaths occurred in October 2021; 31 (48%) deaths occurred in September 2021; four (6%) deaths occurred in August 2021; one (2%) death occurred in July 2021; three (5%) deaths occurred in June 2021; three (5%) deaths occurred in May 2021; and one (2%) death occurred in April 2021,”
The COVIDKaya is a digital application that allows health care professionals to collect and exchange information regarding Covid-19 instances.
The Department of Health further stated that the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units are working together to guarantee that information is current.
On December 21, roughly 1.1 percent of 32,118 people tested positive for Covid-19, according to DOH data.
“As they are recoveries, about two duplicates were removed from the total case count. In addition, 167 cases tested negative and were eliminated from the total case count since they were recoveries “According to the Department of Health.
Following final validation, 60 instances formerly labeled as recoveries were reclassified as fatalities.
On December 21, two laboratories were unavailable, and 11 laboratories were unable to transmit data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.
Based on statistics from the previous 14 days, the 13 laboratories provide 9.1% of samples analyzed and 4% of positive persons, according to the DOH.
Patients with Covid-19 are currently using 19 percent of 3,500 ICU beds, 23 percent of 19,200 isolation beds, 11 percent of 12,500 ward beds, and 9 percent of 2,900 ventilators across the country.
Meanwhile, in the National Capital Region, 20 percent of 1,200 ICU beds, 19 percent of 4,600 isolation beds, 16 percent of 3,700 ward beds, and 11 percent of 900 ventilators are dedicated to patients with Covid-19.
