The death of a Cotabato cop is the PNP’s 128th Covid-19 death.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced another coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) death on Friday, bringing the total number of deaths in the force to 128.
The newest casualty, according to PNP deputy head for administration Lt. Gen. Joselito Vera Cruz, is a 46-year-old police staff sergeant attached to the Cotabato City Police Office.
He stated that the victim tested positive for Covid-19 on February 6 and died of acute respiratory failure on February 7 at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center.
The patient has diabetes, according to Vera Cruz, and was properly vaccinated against Covid-19 in August of last year.
Meanwhile, 68 PNP personnel have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the total number of recovered PNP personnel to 48,249 out of 48,700 confirmed infections.
Despite another 24 new illnesses, the number of active infections has reduced to 323, down from 368 on Thursday.
