Isko Moreno proposes that instructors be upskilled in order to increase educational quality.
MANILA โ Presidential candidate and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso wants to upskill teachers as a way to help them enhance teaching approaches and stay relevant in classrooms in a tech-savvy generation.
The Ramon Magsaysay High School (RMHS) in Sampaloc was officially opened by Domagoso and other city leaders on Thursday.
He remarked during the ceremony that, in addition to enhancing school infrastructure in the city, he aimed to assist teachers in developing and mastering their talents, so improving the country’s educational quality.
“Someday, wala lang natin pagbubutihin at ibibigay ‘yung magandang pasilidad para sa mga estudyante ngunit tayo’y mamumuhunan din na pagbutihin, palakasin at dagdagan ang mga guro’s skill set.” Palarin nawa tayo, palarin nawa tayo, palarin n Isa sa susi ng tagumpay ng tao ay ang edukasyon (We will invest not only in improving, strengthening, and upskilling the instructors, but also in improving, strengthening, and upskilling the pupils.) I’m hoping we’re in luck. Education is one of the keys to success),” Domagoso stated.
RMHS is the city government’s fourth school to be renovated under Domagoso.
The new school will have 232 air-conditioned classrooms in a 10-story building with 18 offices and faculty rooms, a library on the second floor, an administration building, auditorium, gymnasium, play area, an outdoor sports area on the roof deck, a canteen on the ground floor, eight elevator units, and parking spaces when it is completed.
The school principal, Gene Pangilinan, expressed his thanks by saying that the reconstruction will allow them to accommodate more kids.
The school’s existing student capacity is only 4,000, but this school year it has a total of 6,380 pupils enrolled.
“Dapat baguhin ito upang bigyang katuparan ang pangarap ng mga magulang at susunod na henerasyon, lubos naming niyayakap ang mga pagbabagong mangyayari (There should be change to be able to help many parents and the future generation accomplish their aspirations),” says the author. He stated, “We completely embrace the changes that will occur).”
Dr. Maria Magdalena Lim, superintendent of the Manila Division of City Schools, stated RMHS is one of the country’s best performing schools, and one of only three schools countrywide to excel in the Program for International Students Assessment in 2019.
Magdalena predicted that the new RMHS will eventually provide a Senior High School program.
Dr. Alejandro Albert Elementary School, also in Sampaloc, Rosauro Almario Elementary School in Tondo, and the Manila Science High School along Taft Avenue are the three other Manila schools now under development.
