Priorities in the first two years: livelihood and job creation: Isko Moreno
MANILA, Philippines โ If elected in May, Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso will prioritize the “life and livelihood” program for the first two years.
With the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) still a pandemic after nearly two years, Domagoso promised to restore jobs and help businesses recover during the CNN Philippines-sponsored “Presidential Debates: The Filipino Votes” held at the University of Santo Tomas Quadricentennial Pavilion on Sunday.
“I, on the other hand, get things done.” I’m not required to provide a timeline. When I work in the government, ‘pag ako po’y pumapasok na gobyerno (whenever I work in the government), I truly want to succeed in every sphere of activity,” he said in response to a question on how swiftly Filipinos will sense his leadership if he is elected president.
He promised that the country would benefit from good governance, as he did as mayor of Manila.
The most important thing for me right now is to figure out how to help the country overcome this pandemic. Buhay ng negosyante, hindi sila naabuso, buhay ang trabaho, panatag ang tao (The most important thing for me right now is to figure out how to help the country survive this pandemic.) How will the 4 million employees who have lost their employment be able to find work? Assist small enterprises in their recovery. Appease the workers. Ensure that businesses are not mistreated, that livelihoods are maintained, and that people are safe),” he urged.
Last year, during the pandemic, Manila distributed food boxes to 700,000 families for six months in a row, over the Christmas season, and on a few other occasions.
Housing projects arose in the capital city, as did the renovation of hospitals and schools.
Domagoso claims that his accomplishments in Manila demonstrate that he is ready to be the next president.
According to his 10-point “Bilis Kilos” (Quick Action) Economic Agenda, his life and livelihood economic policy intend to solve poverty, hunger, unemployment, inequality, and social injustice through an inclusive and equitable infrastructure development program.
He wants to keep President Rodrigo Duterte’s “Build, Build, Build” infrastructure program going, which will help create more jobs, and he wants to work closely with Congress to cut tariffs on most basic commodities by half, including petroleum and electricity.
He promised to help MSME (micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises) as well as tourism development.
