Indoor venue capacity for campaign sorties is still set at 70%.

MANILA, Philippines โ€” Even in places placed under the lowest Alert Level 1 from March 1 to 15, the maximum capacity of indoor facilities for campaign sorties is still 70%, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

“Apart from the number of individuals who can attend the venues, there’s nothing else to relax about.” It reaches a maximum of 70%. We want to keep it, but we don’t want to go all out. In a virtual media briefing, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez stated, “Obviously, there is still a pandemic, only at Level 1.”

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) said on Sunday that during the first half of March, 39 locations, including the National Capital Region, will be placed under the most lenient Alert Level 1 categorization.

The IATF stated that there are no restrictions on indoor and outdoor capacities at Alert Level 1. Everyone, regardless of age or comorbidities, can travel intrazonally and interzonally.

All establishments, people, or activities are also permitted to operate, work, or engage in activities up to the total on-site or venue seating capacity, as long as they meet minimal public health standards.

“The usage of a face shield is the biggest news for Comelec. It’s entirely optional. Level 1 of the IATF-EID still allows for the voluntary use of face shields. In terms of everything else in the campaign, we’re already at the bare minimum in terms of health protocols, doing the bare minimum to keep everyone safe,” Jimenez added.

He claimed that the Comelec has yet to receive a request from candidates to relax their requirements, even in places where Alert Level 1 is in effect.

“In the meantime, we have not received any formal requests to relax our restrictions, therefore we will maintain our current guidelines,” Jimenez stated. “We have tuned our guidelines. They respond to changes in the IATF’s alert level.”

Meanwhile, the poll body, in collaboration with Vote Pilipinas and the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), has created the Candidate Profile Dashboard, which allows the public to learn more about the candidates competing for national offices in the May 9 elections.

www.votepilipinas.com provides information on presidential, vice presidential, senatorial, and party-list candidates.

Voters will be informed about the candidates’ political and professional backgrounds, among other things.

Vote Pilipinas creator Ces Rondario stated that the project’s goal is to educate voters with information about people running for office in the upcoming elections.

PCOO Undersecretary Kris Ablan, on the other hand, stated that the dashboard offers crucial information on candidates that is visible to the electorate.

In the upcoming elections, a total of ten presidential candidates, nine vice presidential candidates, 64 senatorial candidates, and 178 party-list groups are running.
