DAVAO CITY, Philippines – According to the city information office, the city government has launched four more special district vaccination sites for the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pediatric vaccination program.

The F. Dizon Elementary School, SM Ecoland, GMall Toril, and the Holy Cross of Calinan College are the four additional special district immunization sites that started operating on February 28.

The venues have been spruced up as child-friendly vaccination centers for eligible youngsters aged 5 to 11 years old for the Covid-19 immunization.

On February 21, the local administration opened three unique sites for children: Almendras Gym, San Roque Central Elementary School, and Vicente Hizon Elementary School.

The municipal government is eager to open more pediatric vaccination sites as soon as the Department of Health (DOH) provides the third tranche of vaccines, according to Dr. Michelle Schlosser, a spokesperson for the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force.

“In the city, there are adequate immunizations for the pediatric drive,” Schlosser added.

Meanwhile, she reassured parents that the Covid-19 vaccines for children have undergone extensive testing and that there is no need to be concerned because they are safe for children aged 5 to 11.

“Vaccines are given to youngsters to protect them from diseases. If it isn’t safe, it won’t be accepted,” she stated.

Schlosser also stated that the licensing and release of vaccines for children aged 5 to 11 years required time due to the extensive research conducted by specialists.

She stated that no vaccine-related deaths have been reported in the city and that a team has been formed to investigate adverse vaccine reactions, including suspected inoculation-related death.
