Charges against Gwyneth Anne Chua, the person in charge of the quarantine, and eight other people who broke protocol late last year were filed in Makati City.

As soon as she arrived from the United States on December 22, 2021, Chua checked into the Berjaya Makati Hotel on Makati Avenue. Then she came home, went to a nearby bar, and went back to her house the next day.

She, her friends, and some employees of the bar later found out that Covid-19 was good for them.

Police are suing Chua’s parents, Gemma Chua, and Rico Atienza for breaking the law. They also are suing Berjaya resident manager Gladiolyn Blala, her assistant, Den Sabayo; security manager Tito Arboleda; security officer Esteban Gatbonton; and front desk staff Hannah Arana for breaking the law, Republic Act 11332, or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Evvnts.

When Chua was at the hotel for less than an hour, her father is said to have picked her up. Security camera footage the next day shows her at a restaurant.

She and her mother went back to the hotel on Christmas night.

“The CIDG Regional Field Unit NCR, which is in charge of the case, was already able to find out the facts about the case of Gwyneth Anne Chua,” the CIDG statement said.

It was not enough evidence to charge Chua’s close friends. They were also urged to sue her, especially those who she allegedly infected at the party.
