MANILA, Philippines — Two chapters of the Robredo People’s Council (RPC) in Metro Manila have canceled their planned campaign rallies for Vice President Leni Robredo.

The RPC chapters of Makati and Taguig-Pateros declared in separate announcements on Sunday that they will not go ahead with their sorties for the lone female presidential candidate in this year’s elections.

According to RPC Taguig-Pateros, their alleged “Liwanag sa Taguig People’s Rally” will be shifted to a larger venue south of the capital to accommodate more Robredo supporters.

“The projected Liwanag sa Taguig People’s Rally will not go ahead,” RPC Taguig-Pateros said, adding that a host city with a larger site that can accommodate more Kakampinks in the NCR South will be chosen instead.

The group did clarify, however, that there is currently no set date for the next Robredo mission.

For the time being, RPC Taguig-Pateros said it will concentrate on its on-the-ground campaign “with the help of our volunteers.”

Meanwhile, RPC Makati has not given a specific reason for the cancellation of its “MakaTindig” event, but has stated that it will provide an update as soon as important changes are made.

“The rumored MakaTindig Grand Rally has been called off. Though a Leni-Kiko campaign event in Makati is still uncertain, we will issue a statement as soon as possible if this changes “It was stated.

The timing was rumored to be the reason RPC Makati hesitated to set a definitive date for MakaTindig.

The date for MakaTindig is believed to be April 30, although RPC Makati stressed that no definitive date has been chosen.

GMA has also scheduled a “face-off” between presidential candidates on the same date, though it is unclear if the discussion will be televised live or pre-recorded.

All “Kakampinks” were asked to “only please disseminate information released via official RPC pages,” according to both RPC chapters.
