MANILA, Philippines — With zero current cases, the Pasay City government declared a huge win in the fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In a Viber message to reporters, Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said, “No new Covid-19 case has been found in Pasay City for the past four days, which is a big success considering that it was once a hotbed for growing viral cases.”

All Covid-19 patients admitted to the Pasay City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) and the Pasay City General Hospital have recovered from the disease, according to the CESU.

The government’s extensive immunization efforts, according to Rubiano, are to blame for the dramatic decline in the number of cases.

As of March 26, Pasay had provided a total of 753,112 Covid-19 vaccinations, with 334,034 residents fully immunized and 81,188 residents receiving booster shots or additional doses.

“We must keep in mind that the city employs a large number of non-Pasay residents.” “We need to vaccinate them in order for them to work here,” Rubiano explained.

She also reminded the public that Pasay will continue to aggressively enforce public health minimum measures like hand washing, wearing face masks, and maintaining a physical distance.
