MANILA, Philippines — In the May 9 elections, a total of 46,193 candidates are running for national and local seats.

These candidates will compete for 18,100 jobs, according to statistics given by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday.

Ten candidates are running for president, nine candidates are running for vice president, and 64 people are running for 12 senate seats at the national level.

There are 177 party-list groups with 929 nominees vying for 63 seats in the House of Representatives, according to the report.

In terms of local seats, there are 690 bets on the 253 seats in the Lower House.

There are 259 candidates standing for 81 gubernatorial seats, with 219 running for vice gubernatorial seats.

For the 782 seats on the provincial board of directors, there are 1,891 individuals standing.

There are 4,316 and 3,824 candidates fighting for the 1,634 mayoral and vice mayoral slots, respectively.

Meanwhile, 34,911 bets have been placed on 13,558 local and municipal council seats.

According to the Comelec, 845 candidates are running unopposed in this year’s elections.
