Go advocates for the approval of measures aimed at assisting disaster victims.
In light of the Taal Volcano eruption, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has committed to working for the passage of three bills he submitted three years ago to boost disaster management and response in the country.
“Evacuees should have a clean and nice place to rest before returning to their homes in times of crisis and calamity,” Go stated in a news release on Thursday.
Go filed Senate Bill No. (SBN) 205 in 2019 to establish the Department of Disaster Resilience, which will focus on the continuing development and growth of disaster resilience initiatives.
To enhance collaboration across all government instrumentalities at the national and municipal levels, the proposed bill calls for a whole-of-government approach.
The department will be the primary government agency in charge of ensuring that communities are safe, adaptable, and disaster-resistant.
Go also submitted SBN 1227, which establishes a rental housing support scheme for natural disaster and calamity sufferers.
In 2019, he also submitted SBN 1228, which mandates that all provinces, cities, and municipalities construct their own emergency response centers.
“I’m not a fan of pagsulong. Huwag na nating hintayin na may bagyo, lindol, at bulkan pagputok. Madali ang koordinasyon kung mayroong departamentong nakatutok. If there is a sakuna, kailangan mo na kailangan mag-antay ng ilang linggo. May validation, assessment, and binibigay na agad ang tulong We shouldn’t wait for typhoons, earthquakes, or volcanic eruptions to happen. Coordination will be simple if we have a department dedicated to these issues. During a disaster, for example, you won’t have to wait for weeks. Validation, assessment, and quick assistance will be offered) “Go, it was said.
