MANILA, Philippines — Pfizer’s vaccine against the coronavirus illness 2019 (Covid-19) arrived in the country on Friday night, with about 700,000 doses.

These government-supplied vaccines included 240,000 doses for children and 430,560 doses for people aged 12 and up.

On Wednesday night, the country got 1,872,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines purchased through the World Bank by the government. On Thursday night, another 930,000 pills arrived.

Dr. Rontgene Solante, an infectious diseases expert, stated in a public briefing on Friday that national vaccination days should be held on a regular basis. “The accessibility of (performing) the national immunization day is a benefit. Solante expressed his hope that the government would continue to expand the vaccine campaign’s reach.

From March 10 to 18, the government held the fourth Bayanihan Bakunahan National Vaccination Days.

Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje previously stated that this could be the last, as the government may focus on places with poor vaccination rates or areas where 70 percent of the target population has yet to be vaccinated.

As of March 30, the Philippines had administered 142,236,006 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, according to the Department of Health’s Covid-19 dashboard. Booster doses account for 12,018,418 of this total.

As of March 30, at least 65,885,048 people in the target group had been fully immunized against Covid-19.
