The Binondo-Intramuros Bridge is set to open on April 5th.

MANILA — On Tuesday, the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge, which connects the two bustling Manila districts, will be opened.

According to a news release, Secretary Roger Mercado and Undersecretary Emil Sadain of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) conducted a final inspection on Monday at the state-of-the-art project, which is one of two China-grant bridges implemented and completed by the DPWH Unified Project Management Office (UPMO).

UPMO Directors Benjamin Bautista, Ramon Arriola III, Sharif Madsmo Hasim, Rodrigo Delos Reyes, and Johnson Domingo were also present during the inspection.

The steel arch bridge is 70 meters long and 21 meters broad, with a total length of 680 meters and four lanes.

With a viaduct structure across Estero de Binondo, it connects Intramuros at Solana Street and Riverside Drive to Binondo at Rentas Street, Plaza del Conde Street, and Muelle dela Industria.

The bridge will serve approximately 30,000 motorists per day, significantly improving traffic problems in Metro Manila.

The proposal also includes bike lanes with reflective thermoplastic road markings and sheltered sidewalks on both sides.

Twelve bridges spanning the Pasig River, Marikina River, and the Manggahan Floodway are being considered as part of the Metro Manila Logistics Network, with three completed, five under procurement, three under finance negotiations with China, and one under the private initiative.
