MANILA, Philippines — Prosecutors have ordered that a delivery rider who threatened to assassinate presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on social media face criminal charges.

The office of Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento said in a statement Tuesday that a bond of PHP72,000 had been proposed for the temporary liberty of Michael Go, 49, who was arrested Friday in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Quezon City.

Marcos’ camp had previously filed a complaint against Go two days prior, who denied making the claimed threat.

According to Malcontento’s office, a Grave Threat complaint under Article 282 of the Revised Penal Code in regard to Republic Act No. 10175 (Cybercrime Law) will be filed in the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.

“I was blocked by Marcos Jr. in 2016,” Go purportedly wrote on Twitter. Ingat siya sa Tandang Sora QC, pakisabi. Tell him to be careful at Tandang Sora QC dumaan sya dun babarilin ko siya di ako takot makulong (Tell him to be careful in Tandang Sora QC if he dumaan dun babarilin ko siya di ako takot makulong). I’ll shoot him if he passes by there. I have no fear of going to jail).”

“I’m not a takot mamatay.” Isang malaking karangalan ipaghigante mga kasama ko aktibista biktima ng martial law (It would be an honor to avenge my activist friends who have been victimized by martial law),” Go wrote in his essay.

Marcos and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, have regularly topped polls leading up to the elections on May 9.
