Duterte said there would be no “extra” Covid-19 vaccinations.
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte claimed on Tuesday that there are no “excess” Covid-19 vaccines; some Filipinos just refuse to be vaccinated.
Duterte made the remark in response to concerns about the expiration of 27 million Covid-19 vaccines in July.
“Kung may mga Pilipino pa hindi pa nakapagbakuna o ayaw makipagbakuna e hindi naman kasalanan ng gobyerno,” he stated in a prepared Talk to the People.
He noted that the government obtained the appropriate amount of doses for vaccination of the target group.
“Kung sabihin na sobra sobra ang bakuna, hindi hindi hindi “” hindi hindi “… hindi hindi hindi hindi hindi hindi hindi hindi hindi hindi hindi .” 100 million ang ating inorder, kung naman natin naman natin naman natin naman natin naman natin n Tayo puwede magkulang hindi tayo. (If they say there’s an overabundance of vaccines, it’s not an overabundance.) We ordered 100 million vaccines based on our estimate of 100 million. We can’t have a scarcity. It doesn’t matter whether there’s plenty),” he added.
Duterte believes that donating Covid-19 vaccines to other countries or conducting house-to-house immunizations are the greatest ways to reduce vaccine waste.
“So itong mga bakuna mag expire, either ibigay natin ito sa mga countries na wala pa or siguraduhin natin na ano nalang, we’ll embark on a last-minute program na mag house-to-house nalang sa mga barangay,” he said.
According to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, the country’s anticipated vaccine wastage rate is currently at 1.54 percent. This number is lower than the World Health Organization’s suggested waste rate of 10%. (WHO).
Around 67 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of April 2.
In the first quarter of 2022, the government plans to fully vaccinate at least 77 million Filipinos, with 90 million inoculated by the end of the second quarter.
Don’t let the vax drive get derailed.
Meanwhile, Duterte reiterated his call for communist rebels to refrain from disrupting the government’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign in rural areas.
“Kayong mga NPA [New Anyone’s Army], huwag ninyo barahin yung mga tao na aakyat diyan (You NPA, don’t stop people from getting up there, especially health professionals),” he urged.
On the grounds of humanism, he continued, NPA insurgents may also line up for free Covid-19 injections.
“Kung gusto ninyo magpabakuna, ipasali ko kayo pero huwag ninyo…”
Do not sabotage the plan. “That’s what I’m trying to say,” he explained.
Duterte pushed communist insurgents to surrender, promising them free housing and livelihood if they did so.
“You surrender, lay down your weapons, and tayo mag-usap.” (Then let’s chat.) May bahay kayo, may trabaho You will be provided with housing and employment, and the TESDA (Technical Education And Abilities Development Authority) will teach you new skills that you do not possess,” he continued.
