Senators Christopher “Bong” Go and Nancy Binay have endorsed the government’s intention to expand the vaccination program by going door to door.

On Tuesday’s “Talk to the People,” President Rodrigo Duterte urged that expired Covid-19 vaccination doses be distributed by delivering them to families.

“Instead of letting things go to waste and expire, dapat proactive po tayo para lalo pang ma-ilapit ang bakuna sa komunidad,” Binay said in a statement.

It is time, according to Binay, to change the strategy for combating hesitancy.

“However, ang unahin na po natin ‘yung mga naka-schedule for boosters para fully covered na sila,” she continued.

Go also asked officials to step up the immunization campaign and boost public trust in information distribution efforts.

“As a result, ako po’y nakiusap sa Executive Department, and as chair of the Senate Committee on Health, ipa-intindi natin sa mabuti publiko.” Suyurin niyo sa local government units (local government units). Kayo po ang nakakaalam kung saang sulok po, sa mga bahay o lugar diyan, kung sino po ang hindi bakunado (I am pleading with the Executive Department and the Senate Committee on Health to adequately inform the public.) In another remark, Go said, “Visit the LGUs, you know where, the residences and places there, who are not yet vaccinated).”

He requested that the Department of Health send immunization teams to isolated and impoverished communities to guarantee that vaccines are distributed efficiently.

The President’s offer for house-to-house immunization, according to Acting Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Martin Andanar, will be contingent on the results of the National Task Force Against Covid-19’s study.

Only 12.2 million of the 66.2 million Filipinos who were completely vaccinated as of March 29 had received booster doses.
