MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Lebanon announced on Friday that three nations are being investigated as potential employment markets for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Turkey, which is also under the authority of POLO, along with Georgia, Azerbaijan, and North Cyprus, is being considered as another employment location for Filipino workers, according to Labor Attaché Alejandro Padaen.

“Once everything has normalized, Turkey is a good potential as an employment market for our personnel,” he stated in a virtual conference.

There are currently 4,000 Filipino employees in the country.

“Slowly, the number is rising now that we have a regular deployment there,” said the POLO-Lebanon.

Skilled workers, home services workers (HSWs), and service sector workers are among the OFWs in the host country.

HSWs are paid a minimum of US$800 per month, according to Padaen. The sum is nearly double what these workers get in other countries.

He explained, “Recently, we accepted a job order for workers in a large tuna factory managed by a Filipino.”

According to Padaen, 11 foreign recruitment agencies (FRAs) have been approved for the deployment of HSWs thus far.

“Georgia and Azerbaijan are also strong potentials because they have an oil and gas sector.” Despite the fact that we already have skilled personnel and, of course, HSWs,” he continued.

HSWs, cleaners, hotel staff, and bazaar workers are among the OFWs already employed in Northern Cyprus.

Padaen encouraged Filipinos looking for work abroad to always deal with government-approved recruitment organizations or the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
