Region with the lowest vaccination rate BARMM foresaw a boom in the future.

MANILA, Philippines – The Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), which has the lowest immunization coverage, should be on the lookout for another outbreak of Covid-19.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the head of the National Task Force Against Covid-19, stated Monday night that with only about 30% of the target population properly vaccinated, BARMM will struggle to recover from another outbreak.

During President Rodrigo Duterte’s prerecorded “Talk to the People,” Galvez claimed BARMM and nearby Soccsksargen Region have the lowest vaccination coverage among 17 regions, with fully inoculating 27.31 percent and 59.26 percent of the eligible population, respectively, so far.

“So, if there’s another spike, mahihirapan po ang BARMM just in case sa kanila po tumama ‘yung tinatawag nating pandemic,” Galvez added.

The government is already taking steps to encourage more BARMM people to get the Covid-19 immunization, including special vaccination days planned after the May 9 elections.

Galvez previously stated that some Muslims are hesitant to get vaccinated because they believe the Covid-19 vaccine violates their religious and cultural values.

The government, according to Duterte, respects and cherishes their beliefs, but public health should take them first.

Middle Eastern countries were among the first to obtain Covid-19 vaccines, according to the President.

Duterte also ordered BARMM Chief Minister Ahod “Murad” Ebrahim to “push a little harder” in persuading more locals to get vaccinated against the deadly disease.

Dr. Lulu Bravo, Executive Director of the Philippine Foundation for Vaccine, spoke at the Laging Handa public briefing on Tuesday about the necessity of adequate information dissemination, particularly in places where vaccination coverage is still lacking.

Other Muslim-majority nations, such as Malaysia and Indonesia, have already vaccinated roughly 85 percent of their population, according to Bravo.

“Ang ganda-ganda na na kanilang Covid instances,” says the narrator. Gaya ng dito sa Pilipinas sa ngayon (They have a large number of Covid cases.) It has plummeted (as it did in the Philippines),” she explained.

According to Bravo, Muslim health professionals and specialists, as well as BARMM officials, can speak directly to the public about the benefits of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“Sila po ang makakatulong sa atin upang ipaliwanag ng maayos sa ating mga kababayan dyan sa Mindanao ang kahalagahan ng pagbabakuna (They are the ones who can assist us in correctly explaining the necessity of vaccination to our fellow countrymen there in Mindanao),” she added.

The Philippines had already given out 143,966,310 pills as of April 8.

66,609,892 people have been fully vaccinated, while 12,443,226 have already received booster or extra doses.
