The Department of Public Works (DPWH) has begun construction on an access road connecting industrial zones.
PAMPANGA’S CITY OF SAN FERNANDO โ The construction of a 17.74-kilometer access road to help improve Central Luzon’s economic development is now begun.
The Subic Bay Freeport Zone will be connected to the Mabiga Exit of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) in Bataan, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office III on Tuesday.
The planned diversion route, according to DPWH regional director Roseller Tolentino, will put the Hermosa Ecozone Industrial Park closer to the region’s major seaports and airports.
According to Tolentino, it would also be connected to the Luzon Spine Expressway Network, allowing for easier inter-regional travel.
The multi-year project will begin in 2020 with a PHP120 million initial allocation for the rehabilitation of the 3.95-kilometer Mabiga-Morong sector, which had a completion rate of 74.28 percent as of March 31, 2022.
Meanwhile, the national budget for 2021 included PHP200 million to the building of the 7.264-kilometer Mabiga-Palihan portion.
“Our main goal in the region is to boost our road investments.” “Expanding our current road networks in the country’s industrial heartland would primarily benefit ecozone locators because more mobility will result in cheaper business expenses and faster delivery of goods and services,” Tolentino said in a statement.
The multi-year access road project is expected to be finished in 2027 at a total cost of PHP4.05 billion.
“Right now, we’re working on this project in stages, and there’s still a lot of work to be done before it can be completely utilized by the general public.” “Our Regional Construction Division and our Bataan 1st District Engineering Office are committed to completing this project as quickly as possible,” he added.
